883,764. Masted lift trucks; tipping portable containers. CIBA Ltd. Oct. 29, 1958 [Nov. 1, 1957], No. 34718/58. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). A barrel 13 is clamped by arms 12 to a plate 11 pivoted to the lifting carriage of a masted lift truck about an axis 15 intersecting the tip of the barrel. Tipping is effected by an hydraulic thrustor 31 on the plate 11 which moves pulleys 24, 25 engaging bights in a cable or chain 21 anchored to the plate at 26, 29 and a drum 20 rigidly secured to the lifting carriage. In various modifications (not shown) the plate is tipped by rack and pinion or worm mechanism. Clamp arms 12 may be self centring or, when it is desired to use the device with barrels of different sizes, they may be independently operable.
