Abstract

883,335. Fuel systems. DOWTY ROTOL Ltd. Jan. 13, 1959 [Feb. 5, 1958], No. 3799/58. Class 7(3). [Also in Group XXIX] An aircraft-engine fuel-proportioner comprises three rotors 13, 14, 15, each supplied from a separate tank 18, only one of which is shown, and each tank containing a pump 17; the proportioner, which is driven by an hydraulic motor, discharges to a collector tank 25 connected to the engine. The rotor sizes are such that fuel is drawn from the tanks in proportion to the respective capacities thereof. The liquid flow to the motor is controlled by a valve having two relatively and separately movable closure members 32, 40, the former being responsive to the flow of liquid to the motor 12 whereby at a given flow rate the supply to the motor is throttled or cut off and the latter being regulated in response to the pressure in the collector tank 25 and hence engine operation so that upon any change in the latter the speed of the motor 12 is adjusted whereby the proportioner generates a pressure in the collector tank 25 which is related to the new fuel flow demands of the engine. (See also Group XXIX).
