Abstract
883,307. Frit-melting furnaces. DAVIES (BURSLEM) Ltd., JAMES. May 11, 1960 [May 12, 1959], No. 16305/59. Class 51 (2). A furnace for smelting enamel or glazing frits comprises an inclined, refractory-lined drum 10 fired by a burner 12 and fed with raw powder through a screw feed 15 at the lowest part of the lining 11 at the opposite end to the burner. A tapping hole 17 leading to a quench tank 19 is provided below the burner, and the angle of tilt may be varied by a jack 20. When the lining 11 wears the furnace may be turned through 180 degrees on rollers 21.
