Abstract

Wood pulp is made from the wood of the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), which is first reduced to chips cut parallel with the fibre and under 1 mm. in thickness, and then digested by cooking. Preferably, the chips are between 0,1 and 0,4 mm. thick, and cooking may be with sulphate or monosulphite liquor. The pulp so made is particularly suitable for making paper, including packing paper, newsprint, and highgrade writing and printing papers.
