Abstract

A germicidal composition comprises (1) a polyoxyethylene alkyl phenol in which the alkyl group has from 6 to 12 carbon atoms and the polyoxyethylene chain has from 6 to 20 oxyethylene groups; (2) sodium ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid preferably the tetra sodium salt; and (3) a quaternary ammonium compound of the group of octyl aryloxyethoxy ethyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chlorides wherein the aryloxy group is phenoxy or cresoxy. Specified ingredients of the above classes are (1) polyoxyethylene phenol containing 10 oxyethylene groups per mol; (3) diisobutyl phenoxy ethoxy ethyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride. The composition may be applied direct to body surfaces for antiseptic treatment and be used for disinfecting of instruments, table wear and linen &c.
