882,232. Cathode-ray tube circuits. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd. Dec. 30, 1958 [Jan. 6, 1958], No. 467/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 40(7). A cathode ray tube of the type which, once an image has been impressed on the screen, retains the image is used in an apparatus for indicating the courses of a number of craft. Pairs of signals corresponding to the cartesian co-ordinates of the various craft are fed in turn to the tube so that the courses of the craft are indicated by interrupted lines. Means are provided to brighten up traces from the faster moving craft so that all the traces appear to have the same brightness. To distinguish the course of one craft from that of another the traces are coded so that, for example, one trace may comprise a series of single dots while a second is formed of spaced pairs of dots. A marker can be painted on any trace to indicate the position of the occurrence of an event as, for example, the dropping of a marker buoy. By means of an epidiascope arrangement an image of the display may be projected on to a screen.
