Abstract

1508625 Sonar displays SIMRAD AS 9 Sept 1975 [11 Sept 1974] 37099/75 Heading G1G [Also in Division H4] The position of a shoal of fish is indicated on a plan position indicator by a luminous line transverse to the radius vector and of length proportional to the radius vector. C.R.O. or LED matrix display may be used. In the preferred embodiment, a time base circuit generates a succession of radial sweeps of the beam of a C.R.O. corresponding to one edge of respective sector-shaped sonar beam transmissions and at a point corresponding to a received echo the election beam is brightened and deflected tangentially for a distance proportional to the radius. The deflection control is by digital circuits in which X and Y components of deflection increments are accumulated and compared with echo position signals held in registers, Figs.4 to 8 (not shown).
