Abstract
A bath for brightening aluminium and aluminium-alloy articles which contains phosphoric acid, nitric acid and water and which has become ineffective through accumulation of dissolved aluminium is revived by the addition of sulphuric acid in an amount sufficient to maintain the dissolved aluminium in solution at the temperature of operation of the bath. The addition of concentrated sulphuric acid to the extent of 3% of the volume of the bath is usually sufficient. U.S.A. Specification 2,729,551 also is referred to.
