879,765. Buttons. BAC-A-BRAND PRODUCTS Inc. May 26, 1960, No. 18672/69. Class 43. A button kit for assembling a cloth covered button comprises a drawn sheet metal front shell 12 having a peripheral wall permanently locking a drawn sheet metal intermediate plate 16 within the front shell, a rearwardly extending shank 18 and a circular sheet metal back plate 40 having a centre hole for reception of the shank in which the back plate is slidable on the shank to a position in which the peripheral edge of the back plate bears against inturned cloth or fabric previously wrapped around the shell, the back plate having short slits at its centre hole and being so related to the shank that the back plate can be locked on the shank in the position in which the back plate bears against the cloth or fabric. The disc plate is centrally slit to form two tabs notched at the ends to engage the legs of the shank which may be serrated. The back plate may have a peripheral rib. A disc 24 having adhesive on the upper or both faces may be applied to the intermediate plate to secure the ends of the cloth. In assembling the button the parts may fit into an outer drape shell with a centred aperture, the shell being removed after completing the button.
