Class 98(2) Two or more bleaching baths, at least one of which acts selectively, are used in succession in the silver dye-bleach process to regulate the gradations of the component colour images relative to one another. Substances such as riboflavine, lumazine, alloxazine, amidol or hydroquinone acting as accelerators or retarders on the respective images may be included in the baths, which are usually of the acidified bromide type, and other operations such as reduction of a silver image as yet unbleached may be interposed between their use. The method may be applied to mixed grain or multilayer material, but six examples are directed to the latter, the first of these specifying the material and six of the baths together with their bleaching effects on the individual yellow, purple and blue-green dyed layers when used singly over a range of treatment times, and the other examples dealing with the double or triple bleaching procedures using these baths or two others which are quoted. A control experiment using a single, normal, bleaching bath is included for comparison purposes. Specifications 539,190, 539,391, 539,509, 651,124 and 657,374 are referred to.
