879,516. Oil-break switches; switch covers; switchgear structures. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 19, 1959 [July 23, 1958], No. 23739/58. Class 38 (5). An oil circuit-breaker similar to that described in Specification 879,511 has its lid replaced by a cover 1 containing a voltmeter 4 and ammeter 5, preferably of the screened type, arranged to be connected to the breaker terminals 6, 8. To facilitate this, conducting strips 10, 14 carrying double-spring, V-shaped contacts 13, 16 and attached to an insulating board 9 carrying a similar contact 18, are mounted on the terminals 6, 8 and conductors 20, 21, 22 having knife-shaped contact ends are plugged into contacts 18, 16, 13, the other voltmeter connection being made by a wire 23 and terminal 25. Connectors 29, 30 and conducting bar 31 form the breaker neutral connection. The cover 1 may be interlocked with the breaker to prevent its removal when the breaker is closed. Modifications to the contact arrangement are described if only either the ammeter or voltmeter is required. Specification 879,514 also is referred to.
