Abstract
878,939. Adjusting centre of gravity; gyroscopic apparatus. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO. Ltd. Jan. 20, 1958 [Feb. 7, 1957], No. 4238/57. Class 97(3) [Also in Group XXIV]. Balancing masses 14, 18, 16, 17 on the rotor bearing case 3 of a gyroscopic rotor 1 are adapted to be moved along screw-threaded supports on rotation by intermittent toothed gears such as 13, 15 mounted in the outer casing 4 engaging gear teeth on said balancing masses. Thus, after adjustment by such a gear, which may have only a single tooth, the gears can be left disengaged to allow the rotor casing freedom for precessional movement.
