Abstract
878,820. Ordnance fire control systems. BOFORS A. B. Sept. 3, 1959 [Sept. 13, 1958], No. 30110/59. Class 92. A fire control instrument is supplied with data in polar co-ordinates indicating the position of a target (angle of elevation and angle of traverse) a co-ordinate converter converts the polar to cartesian co-ordinates, a speed unit forms the time differentials of the cartesian co-ordinates a hilting point computer a second co-ordinate converter for converting the cartesian co-ordinates into polar co-ordinates providing the output data wherein the hitting point computer comprises an electronic digital computer for example for binary members the computer calculating four points b c d e Fig. 3 in a co-ordinate system one axis of which indicates the time and the other axis of which indicates the distances of the target and fired object respectively to the firing point, after which the co-ordinates of the point of intersection b of the diagonals c e, d b is calculated from which the cartesian co-ordinates of the predicted hitting point are calculated.
