Abstract

878,621. Frying-machines. BROMILOW, K. P. Jan. 22, 1960 [Oct. 25, 1958], No. 34235/58. Class 28 (1). Potato crisps, chips, &c., are conveyed through a heated oil pan 10-11 by a helical screw 13 provided at its end with an attached perforated basket 39 to lift the chips up so that they fall down an inclined plate 41... The screw 13 is fixed on a hollow spindle 18 rotated through a gear-box 34, and containing an inner shaft 19 carrying stirrers 15. The oil building up at one end is returned to the other end through conduits 44 by a pump 46. The conduits 44 are heated by gas burners 40. The pan is jacketed to receive the flue gases which pass out through pipes 25 to a chimney while the oil vapours pass up through other pipes 26 to another chimney. In Fig. 6 the helix 13 is distanced from its drive shaft 18 by being secured to a helix 60 secured by spokes 61 to the shaft 18. This prevents lodgement of frying- refuse.
