Abstract

878,320. Photo-electric weighing control. F. P. RESEARCH Ltd. Jan. 16, 1959 [Jan. 17, 1958], No. 1746/58. Class 40(3) [Also in Groups XVIII and XXX] A weighing apparatus (see Group XVIII) has an indicating drum calibrated on one side 26 in weight units above and below a correct weight value, and formed on the other side with opaque and transparent portions 27, 28 above and below said correct weight. The portions 27, 28 cooperate with a photo-electric cell which is coupled to an electrical control system to produce a continuous recording of the weights of successive objects, or to correct the filling of the cans before weighing when shown to be necessary by the check weighing, or to sort the cans into the three categories of correct, under, or over, weight. In the latter case the control apparatus operates solenoids 38, 39 to move a hinged section 41, 42 of the discharge conveyer guide rails 33, 34 and thereby direct each can into its appropriate weight classification path 45, 46, 47.
