The side wall 3 of a self-supporting vehicle extends over substantially the whole length of the vehicle and this panel is bent inwardly and upwardly at 14 and 15 to form with the part 11 and the floor 12 a box-section girder 10. Where the tubular member 10 is not so deep the side panel itself may extend upwardly to the floor panel.
