Abstract

A solution of a polymer containing groups reactive with an isocyanate is incorporated in at least one of the following: hydroxylended polyether, polyisocyanate, water and a basic catalyst, and acts as a stabilizer for cellular polyurethanes. Specified stabilizers are alkylated and acylated celluloses, whilst solvents are acetone, methylene chloride and di-octyl phthalate. The polyethers may be prepared as in Specification 733,624 and can have less than 5% molar of glycidol, glycerol, trimethylol propane or 3-hydroxymethyloxa-cyclobutanes copolymerized therewith. Lists of polyethers, polyisocyanates and catalysts are given. Polysiloxanes which control the structure, and cross-linking agents can also be present.
