Abstract
877,096. Mineral-mining machines. EDIBRAC Ltd. June 30, 1960 [July 7, 1959], No. 23263/59. Class 68(1). [Also in Group XXXIV] A nose end assembly for a coal-cutting jib comprises a central boss 3 secured by bolts 13 between the upper and lower plates 14, 15 of the jib, and, surrounding the boss 3, an annular roller 5 on which a cutter chain can ride, whilst bearing pads 4 of tungsten carbide or like wear resistant material are located in recesses in, so as to be flush with either one or the other of the facing surfaces of the boss or the roller. Axial thrust is absorbed by annualr thrust plates 6, 7 positioned in annular recesses in the upper and lower surfaces of the boss and roller, the plates being secured by screws 8 to the boss and having further bearing pads 9 housed in the opposed inner surfaces of the plates to contact the roller. Cooling and lubricating fluid can pass through bores 10, 12 in the boss to the bearing surfaces of the roller and boss.
