Abstract

876,641. Sets. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 4, 1959 [Sept. 17, 1958], No. 29792/58. Class 40 (4). A visual calling indicator is contained in a transparent flexible tube and is mounted in the hollow handle of a handset made of translucent thermoplastic material. As shown the handset is moulded in two halves connected together by metal sleeves 4 which grip oppositely disposed studs 5 as described in Specification 840,808. Inside the handle and lodged on the sleeves 4 is a polythene tube 7, with eyelets at 8 and 9, containing a lamp 6. Conductors from the lamp go to a terminal strip, of the kind described in Specification 864,996, contained in the transmitter housing 2. The lamp may be connected to respond directly to ringing current or ringing current may operate a relay to connect the lamp to battery as shown in Fig. 5 where relay M is energized over capacitor C and rectifier bridge RE to connect the lamp 6 to battery lead B in series with a thermal cut-out CO.
