Abstract
A ceramic metallizing composition comprises by weight 40% to 70% molybdenum boride, 5% to 30% manganese metal, 5% to 30% cuprous oxide and may also contain up to 15% of manganese dioxide. The constituents are milled with an organic binder such as cellulose nitrate and acetone, applied to a ceramic surface and then sintered in a reducing atmosphere at 1150 DEG C. to 1285 DEG C.ALSO:A ceramic metallising composition comprises by weight 40-70% molybdenum boride, 5-30% manganese metal, 5-30% cuprous oxide and the preferred composition also contains up to 15% of manganese dioxide. The constituents are milled with an organic binder such as cellulose nitrate and acetone and applied to a ceramic surface by brush, dipping, printing, spraying, silk screening or transfer rolling. The coated ceramic is sintered at 1150 DEG -1285 DEG C. in are ducing atmosphere and may be plated with Ni, Cu or Ag prior to brazing.
