Abstract

874,639. Torsional vibration dampers, METALASTIK Ltd. Dec. 23, 1959 [Jan. 13, 1959], No. 1295/59. Class 108(3). A ring 11 of rubber-like material for insertion in the radial space 10 between the hub 6 and the inertia ring 5 of a torsional vibration damper has chamfered or rounded edges 17 at the side which first enters the space. The hub 6, which has a boss to enable it to be mounted on a shaft, and the ring 5 are clamped on a bed 7 by the members 8, 9 of a press while the ring 11 is forced into the space 10 by a member 12. The chamfers or rounded portions may be provided at all four edges of the ring which may be formed from a strip of material. Alternatively, one side of the ring may be semi-circular.
