Abstract
874,385. Fishing floats. TURNER, A. E. May 6, 1960 [June 12, 1959], No. 20281/59. Class 48. A float (Fig. 1) comprising a structure long in comparison with its diameter floats vertically with the greater part of its length submerged and is slidably fixed to, carried by, and removable from a line by brackets 3, 8 and detachably fastened to a rod by a hook 4 near its upper end. The float comprises a buoyancy section 2, of relatively large diameter and carrying the bracket 3 and hook 4, mounted on a tube 1 which is secured to a second tube 5 containing a lead weight 7 at its upper end. An alternative form of float is described (Fig. 3) comprising a lower part 21 consisting of two parallel rigid wires 23, 24 slidably connected by means of twin sleeves 25, 26, and an upper cylindrical tube 31. A hollow buoyancy chamber 29, filled with weighting material is attached to the upper end of wire 23. Looped wire brackets 27, 28 and hook 32 are equivalent to brackets 8, 3 and hook 4 in Fig. 1.
