Abstract

873,325. Diazotype reproduction cloth. WINTERBOTTOM BOOK CLOTH CO. Ltd. April 4, 1960 [April 4, 1959], No. 11505/59. Class 98(2) Calendered starch-filled cloth is provided with a water-resistant resin coating, then a coating of a hydrophilic colloid, and finally a diazotype surface coating which may include a coupler for ammonia development. In an example such cloth is dipped in a mixture of acetone, ethyl and butyl alcohols containing dewaxed shellac together with polyvinyl butyral and then in an aqueous alcoholic solution of acetic acid containing gelatin and maybe silica to render the surface receptive to pencil markings, with drying after each dipping; and three diazo mixings for the sensitising coating are provided, such containing gum arabic, methyl methacrylate polymer or polyvinyl alcohol as well as the usual ingredients. Some other resins and colloids for use in the invention are quoted.
