Abstract

873,148. Hair dryers. BIGWOOD, N., and SMITH, C. H. Nov. 7, 1957 [Sept. 12, 1957], No. 28784/57. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XI] An electrically-operated hair dryer has fitted within its shell 10 a timing mechanism constituted by a synchronous motor 4 which, by means of a shaft 5 extending through the shell, drives an adjustably attached pointer 6 which moves, preferably at one revolution per hour, over a suitably marked dial plate 9 or dialmarking on the outer shell. The fan motor 8 and the timing motor 4 are connected in parallel via leads 3 and a switch 2 to a supply cable 1 so that the timing mechanism functions concurrently with the operation of the dryer and gives a continuous indication of the passage of time. Switches operating visual or auditory signals may be actuated by a bar or link attached to the shaft 5.
