871,994. Stereophonic transmission systems. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 4, 1957 [July 6, 1957], No. 41056/59. Divided out of 21465/57 and 871,992. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (4). In a stereophonic sound reproducing apparatus, for use in a transmission system as described in Specification 871,992 in which there is transmitted an audio-frequency signal representative of sounds and a control signal which is representative of the directions or positions of the sources of the sounds and is substantially independent of the loudness of the sounds, two further signals representative of the sounds as received from different directions or at different positions are derived by multiplying the audiofrequency signal by the control signal to obtain one further signal and subtracting this further signal from the audio-frequency signal to obtain the other, and the two further signals are fed respectively to two spaced loud-speakers. The description is identical with that of Specification 871,992 which relates to Fig. 3 thereof.
