871,832. Automatic feed weighers. TARUKAWA, T. Feb. 6, 1958 [Feb. 11, 1957; April 18, 1957; Jan. 17, 1958], No. 3862/58. Class 143 The weighing receptacle of an automatic feed weigher is provided with an auxiliary discharge mechanism which, when the load in the receptacle exceeds the predetermined value, discharges the surplus material from the receptacle before the main discharge mechanism is operated. Receptacle A is connected through a cable 8 and lever 7 to a weigh beam 1 which, when the receptacle is empty operates a switch S1 to start a feeder motor M1. When the predetermined weight is reached, the beam releases the switch and the feed stops. If, however, the beam rises beyond the horizontal, due to feeding an over weight of material, switch S2 is operated to start an impellor 14 which discharges the receptacle until the beam moves away from switch S2. The main discharge door 11 is operated by a cable 21 a and a winch drum 21 which is started by an electromagnetic dog clutch 20 under the control of a switch p.s which is operated either manually or automatically. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) a feed weigher for liquid has a feed valve and main and auxiliary receptacle discharge valves which are selectively operated by electromagnets controlled by switches S1, S2. In a further modification the main discharge device comprises a sliding door operated by a motor driven rack and pinion mechanism. In another modification both the impellor and the discharge door are replaced by screw conveyers.
