Abstract
870,933. Moulding pulp. BRODRENE HARTMANN A.S. Oct. 6, 1959 [Oct. 7, 1958], No. 33895/59. Class 87(2). A machine for making articles, e.g. egg cartons, from pulp comprises means for pneumatically transferring pulp blanks from one rotating carrier to moulds located on a second rotating carrier, and from thence on to a travelling conveyer, characterised in that during the first transfer the moulds, guided by a stationary cam, are swung in a direction opposed to that of rotation of the second carrier. Pulp blanks are formed on suction moulds 12 which pass through a pulp vat 16 and are carried by carrier 10 which drives in the opposite direction a second carrier 18 carrying moulds 20 via gear wheels 42, 44. Each mould 20 is swingably suspended from carrier 18 and is connected by a system of links with a roller 36 which travels in the track 38 of a cam 40. The cam is so shaped that each suction mould 20 is swung anti-clockwise to cooperate with a mould 10, compress the blank slightly, and transfer it in a horizontal position on to a horizontal shelf 56 moving in the same direction at the same speed at about the twoo'clock position on wheels 52 of endless chains 50.
