870,107. Magnetic record heads. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 2, 1960, No. 3674/60. Class 40 (2). A magnetic circuit in a magnetic record head includes a gap between the opposing poles 16, 17 in which an insert is clamped comprising two strip portions 12, 13 of magnetic material, the outer faces being in contact with the poles 16, 17 and the inner (opposing) faces coated with a thin layer of non-magnetic material to constitute the non-magnetic spacer forming the recording/reproducing gap.
