869,825. Bumpers for vehicles. BANKS, D. June 20, 1957 [Sept. 21, 1956], No. 19442/57. Class 103(2). A bumper 1 for vehicles, particularly motor vehicles, consists of a strip of aluminium or aluminiumbased alloy, the cross-section of which is corrugated to increase its resistance to bending. The bumper 1 is adapted to be mounted on a vehicle, for example by means of bolts passed through apertures 2 in the bumper, and the mounting means may incorporate resilient supports or damping devices. The surface 3 of the bumper, which in use is exposed at the front or rear of the vehicle, is highly burnished; the surface may also be tinted by being anodised.
