Class 100(1) [Also in Groups XVII and XXX] A device for conveying sheet blanks through the drying zone of a rotary envelope making machine comprises a pair of positively driven longitudinally inextensible conveyers. Transfer rollers 5 feed blanks from belts 1, 2 to rollers 6, 7 rotating at the greater speed of the block chains 8, 9 so as to increase the staggering of blanks and feed them guided by rollers 10, to the conveyer. Pairs of positively driven block chain conveyers 8, 9 are provided having frictional surfaces 15 gripping the sides of the blanks sufficiently tightly to prevent sagging between the chains where the drying device is positioned. The chains are guided in the drying area by straight guides 12, 13 and the chains 8 are urged towards the chains 9 by springs 14. Dried blanks are transferred by rollers 16 to conveyers 17-19 for further processes.
