A device said to prevent breakage of packages having a regenerated cellulose envelope by avoiding too rapid heating or cooling of the package consists in a metallic strip 11 passing through the package and being sealed in at least one of the end closures with a portion exposed to the atmosphere. The strip 11 may have spaced transverse bands 14 of adhesive to secure it to the envelope wall. The strip, it is suggested may prevent deterioration of the contents by consuming oxygen.
