Abstract

A cross-linked product is prepared by heating at 150 DEG -250 DEG C. a composition of a saturated polyolefin, an organic peroxide and a diallyl ester of an organic polycarboxylic acid and optionally a pulverulent inorganic filler. Ingredients specified are: polymers of ethylene, propylene, butene, isobutylene, pentene, hexene, styrene, divinyl benzene, vinyl naphthalene, naphthalene, ethylene/propylene, ethylene/decene and ethylene/styrene; diallyl-fumarate, -maleate, -adipate, -succinate, -citrate, -citroconate and -monomethyl ester of trimesic acid; carbon black, silica, flamed silica, esterified silica, alumina, calcium carbonate, and calcium silicate; and many peroxides, in particular di-t-butyl and dicumyl peroxides. In examples other ingredients are ethyl zimate and diphenyl phenylene diamine, and chloronaphthalene is used in a swelling test. The products may be formed into film, bottles or tubing.
