867,447. Ornamenting sheet materials. GOODSON, R. J. Nov. 9, 1959 [Nov. 7, 1958]; No. 35761/58. Class 93. Sheet material is ornamented by the application by pouring of superposed pools of quickdrying paint and, while the paint is still fluid, either manipulating the sheet to allow the pools to flow over the surface or allowing the pools to spread freely, and then allowing the paint to dry. The ornamentation may be effected before or after the manufacture of an article, e.g. lamp shade, from the sheet, and the sheet may be of non-absorbent translucent or transparent synthetic material such as "white parchment", card, oil parchment, or metal paper. The paint may have a cellulose or non-cellulose base, and some drying of the paint may be allowed before applying further paint. The sheet material may be black or coloured. A red pool of paint may be applied first followed by the application, while this pool is still fluid, of a black pool on top of the first pool, and finally a white pool on top of the black pool, the sheet being then in clined to allow the paint to spread in all directions.
