Abstract
866,096. Heating buildings electrically. WILLIAMS, E. J. Aug. 1, 1957 [Aug. 1, 1956], No. 23768/56. Class 39(3). A heating system for a building comprises a mains transformer 1, in the primary circuit of which is incorporated a capacitance to render it resonant at mains frequency, having a low voltage heavy current secondary winding which feeds a low resistance circuit consisting 'of conductors 2, e.g. copper or aluminium bars, supplying current to heating elements such as' a wire frame 14, a hot plate 13, a towel rail 8, a space heater 6, a heating support 9, a radia- ;tor 4 and a metal foil 3. The support 9 may comprise two parallel bars bridgable by a shorting circuit 12 or by a kettle 10; the heater 6 may comprise a metal cylinder, and the radiator 4 a series of upstanding strips in contact with metal blocks 5. The foil 3, e.g. of aluminium mounted on plastic or wood backing, may be fixed on or in a wall, ceiling or floor. The secondary winding may be connected to an existing hot-water central heating system (Fig. 2, not shown).
