865,945. Measuring distances; television. GRUNDIG, M. Jan. 27, 1958, No. 2624/58. Class 40(3) To measure the width of a sheet 1, images of its edges 2, 3 illuminated by lamps 4, 5 are superposed on a television camera 6 and any deviation from exact superpositioning produces a darker or lighter portion in the centre of the double image and the corresponding output of the camera is applied to an indicator 15 and control devices 16 and to a television receiver 18. The image of the edge 2 is formed directly on the camera 6 and that of the edge 3 by an optical system including inclined mirrors 9, 10 and a shutter 11a carried by telescopic tubes 7a, 8a. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 810,982.
