Abstract
865,415. Heels; top lifts. HELSINGBORGS GUMMIFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAG TRETORN, Aug. 5, 1959 [Aug. 19, 1958], No. 26794/59. Classes 17(2) and 17(3) In a shoe heel 1 having an exchangeable top lift 7 secured thereto by means of a pin 10 projecting from a raised portion 8 at the centre of the upper face of the lift and driven into the heel, the lift engages the heel with the raised portion only leaving a space between the surrounding portions of the heel and lift, and a steel &c. plate 9 is embedded in the lift adjacent the upper face and extends over the entire area of the lift. As shown in Fig. 1 the heel has a hollow 4 and a recess 5, to receive the raised portion 8, joined by a hole 6 which receives the pin 10. The heel covering 2 is folded under the heel and up into recess 5 and secured by portion 8 which extends below the recess 5 and lining 2 to have a space between the margins of the faces of heel and top lift. Thus the weight resting on the heel is taken on the raised portion only of the top lift. Pin 10 has a covering 12 of the same material as the top lift. In the construction shown in Fig. 4. The heel has no recess 5, and the raised portion 16 of the lift is shorter and engages the lower form of the heel whilst leaving a space between the margins of the heel and lift. The top lift has a reinforcing plate 17 and a second plate 18 to prevent outward flow of the raised portion under stress. The ends of covering 14 are glued to the undersurface of the heel. Recess 5 and portion 8 may be correspondingly tapered and dimensioned so that the end of portion 8 does not engage the end of recess 5.
