Abstract
863,182. Supporting elevated rails. ALWAC INTERNATIONAL Inc. Dec. 23, 1958 [Dec. 26, 1957], No. 41583/58. Class 104 (2). In an elevated track support column 2 having a rectangular cross-section, the width B of which is at right angles to the track 3 and the length L parallel thereto. The length L is greater at the upper end of the colunm 2 than at the lower end thereof and the width B is greater at the lower end than at the upper end thereof. The ratio of the length L to the width B varies from about 0.4 at its lower end to about 3.7 at its upper end of the column. The ratio between the lengths L at its upper and lower end of the colum fall between 2: 1 and 3: 1. The ratio of the widths B at its lower and upper ends falls between 3: 1 and 4:1. The ratio between the length L at its upper end of the colum and its height H fall between 1 : 4 and 1: 6.
