Abstract

862,936. Supporting lighting fittings. CROMPTON PARKINSON Ltd. Dec. 24, 1959 [Jan. 12, 1959], No. 1087/59. Class 75 (3). A lighting fitting 3 is supported in a recession a suspended ceiling 2 by means of fair or more sliding bearers 8 which can be moved from a retracted position (as on the left hand side of the Figure) to an extended position (as on the right hand side of the Figure) in which they engage the cross members 1 defining the recess and supporting the ceiling 2, the faces 9 of the bearers being serrated and inclined at an angle to the direction of sliding so that the further the bearer is extended the higher the fitting is supported. The bearers are secured to the fitting by screws 13 engaging slots in the bearers, part 14 of the slots being parallel to the length of the bearer and part 15 being inclined at an angle thereto, and project through narrow apertures 12 in the side of the fitting.
