Abstract

862,784. Mounting gems. FLAD, H. March 17, 1959 [April 17, 1958], No. 9240/59. Class 43 An ornamental stone which is bonded to a support by adhesively acting means comes the bonding agent in the form of a dry covering layer 6 which becomes adhesive by treatment, e.g. with heat or a solvent. The covering layer may consist of thermoplastics or self hardening plastics or metal alloys, having a low melting point. The covering layer may be applied to the mirror 4 surface of a stone or the covering layer may contain reflecting substances such as metal powder and be applied directly to the stone. The covering layer may contain colouring matter. An intermediate layer 5 of inert material may be inserted between the stone and bonding layer which may have the form of a cap. The covering layer may be applied by dipping the stone in the bonding material or by spraying or brushing the material. The stone, the support or both may be heated to the softening point of the covering layer and the stone applied to a recess in the support.
