Abstract
862,474. Weight motors. FULLER, R. H. July 7, 1958, No. 23209/56. Class 10. Apparatus for obtaining rotary movement from the energy derived from falling weights comprises coaxial rotors 2, 5 having circumferential pockets 4, 6, respectively, and geared together so that the outer rotor 5 rotates oppositely to and faster than the inner rotor 2. A number of weights 3 are located in pockets 4 at one side of rotor 2 and fall as the rotor turns; when a weight reaches a predetermined lowest position it moves out to a feeder pocket 6 in rotor 5 to be carried to an upper position from which it moves back into a pocket 4. An independently-driven balance-wheel unit BWU feeds additional weights 13 into pockets 14 of rotor 5 to counterbalance the weights 3 being carried up, weights 13 being at least twice as heavy as weights 3. Four pairs of rotors 2, 5 may be mounted on a common shaft 1, but angularly offset from each other as indicated at A, B, C, D.
