Abstract

861,708. Valves. GIULIO, P. S. DI. Aug. 19, 1958 [Oct. 4, 1957], No. 26622/58. Class 135. [Also in Group XIII] In a valve for automatically controlling the temperature of a mixture of two liquids, a valve disc 17 is spring urged towards and is movable by means of a stirrup 28b, attached to the thermal element (see Group XIII) mounted in a mixing chamber 5a, between valve seats 18, 19, the seat 18 being for cold liquid supplied from a port 3 via annular chamber 10 and radial bores 11 and the seat 19 for hot liquid supplied from the port 4 via openings 25 in the seat mounting, and the resulting flow passes through an annular passage 14, the mixing chamber 5a and an annular chamber 8 to outlet ports (not shown) set at right angles to the inlet ports. The thermal element comprises a tubular part 27a, abutting a screwed adjusting member 31, telescopically engaged by a second tubular part 28a carrying the stirrup 28b ; a bellows 29 forming with the tubular parts a closed annular chamber ; and a coil 30 of tubing closed at one end and in communication at the other with the closed annular chamber, the annular chamber and coil being filled with expansible liquid through an opening closed by a screwed plug 35. The valve seat 19 is spring urged towards a stop flange in the housing and yields to excessive downward movement of the thermal element thus preventing over-pressure therein.
