861,353. Electric indicating systems. PARSONS & MARINE ENGINEERING TURBINE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION. May 26, 1959 [June 2, 1958], No. 17533/58. Class 40 (1). In a device for measuring the horse-power transmitted by a shaft, two signals, one derived from a tachometer generator j driven by the shaft and the other derived from a torqueresponsive strain gauge bridge b attached to the shaft, are fed simultaneously to a wattmeter calibrated to read the shaft horse-power. Supplies to, and the output signal from, the strain gauge bridge are fed through slip rings c and the strain gauge output is amplified in magnetic amplifier g. Separate speed and torque indicators are provided at k and m and a recorder n is connected to wattmeter i to provide a permanent record of the horse-power.
