Abstract

The material of the nozzle of a surgical enema syringe (see Group VI) has dispersed therein an exudable liquid lubricant which continually maintains a film of lubricant on the outer surface. The material is a thermoplastic resin, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, mixed with mineral oil. The resin is mixed with a heated mixture consisting of dioctyl phthalate or didecyl adipate, diphenyl tin butoxy oleate, dibutyl tin monomethoxy allyl maleate, calcium stearate, silica and pigments, e.g. carbon black. Mineral oil is then added. The final mixture is extruded to form a rod which is ground into pellets, the pellets being injection-moulded to form nozzles.
