Abstract
860,234. Photographic coloured transfer images. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION, Feb. 4, 1958 [Feb. 18, 1957], No. 3S94/58. Class 98(2) An exposed silver halide emulsion layer is permeated with a processing composition to develop the latent image and to provide a uniform distribution of alkali in quantity to be fully reacted in fully exposed areas, as by neutralisation of released hydrogen halide, and leave unexhausted alkali in other areas to render a colour providing substance, which may have been incorporated in the emulsion or in a stratum of alkali-permeable material therebehind, available for transfer in imagewise distribution to a superposed receiving element. The latter may form part of a photographic product for the purpose having, as in Fig. 1, a photosensitive element of support 10, colour providing stratum 12 and emulsion layer 14; and image-receiving element of receiving stratum 18 with support 20, and a rupturable container 16, as of Specification ,684,592, for the processing composition between these elements. Eleven examples illustrate the single colour transfer features of the invention, thus in Example 1 a photosensitive element having a cellulose acetate hydrogen phthalate layer containing 2-(α-naphthylazo)-1-naphthol-4, 4<SP>1</SP>-disulphonamide between emulsion and support is exposed and processed with an aqueous ;composition comprising sodium carboxymethyl cellulose 4. 5 %,potassium bromide 0À2 %,sodium hydroxide 1 %,hydroquinone 0À5 % and 1-phenyl- 3-pyrazolidone 0À2 % while superposed on an image-receiving element comprising a baryta paper coated successively with cellulose acetate and nylon, to show a positive magenta dye image .on the latter element after separation. The other examples are similar, specifying various dyes, couplers and dye salts for production of yellow and cyan images as well as magenta. Multicolour procedure is described more briefly in the Specification than single colour; for this a photosensitive screen element having blue green and red sensitive elemental portions 500, 600, 700 containing yellow, magenta and cyan colour providing substances respectively as of Fig. 2 may be exposed and processed similarly. Specifications 684,591, 706,921, 804,976, 811,579 and 860,233 also are referred to.
