Abstract

859,145. Controlling flow of pulp &c. KIMBERLY-CLARK CORPORATION. May 21, 1957 [May 29, 19561, No. 16115/57. Class 96. In controlling the flow of a stream of papermaking fibres &c. suspended in a liquid or gas, a member 11, Figs. 1 and 2, e.g. a vane, having a blunt leading edge 45 with a width, at least, substantially equal to the average length of the longest 5%, by number, of all the fibres in the suspension, is located in the stream, e.g. pivotally in the throat of a flow-spreader 13. The length of the member in the direction of flow may be at least twice its maximum depth and its trailing edge 19 may be tapered. The leading portion 51 of the member, Fig. 3, may be flared. The member may form part of a slice described in Specification 859,144. Specification 733,851 also is referred to.
