Abstract

858,146. Road-vehicle spring-suspensions. MORRIS MOTORS Ltd. March 18, 1959 [Jan. 30, 1958], No. 3073/58. Class 108(2). In a road-vehicle independent rear suspen sion non flexible wheel carrying linkages and the suspension springs are carried on a subframe A which is connected to a sheet metal body and underframe (only a part of which is shown at 11) by rubber mountings 6, 7. As shown, applied to driven wheels 15, each wheel carrying link 16, 17, is rigid with a shaft 18 pivotally connected at 20 to the frame A and at 19 to the body 11. A drive shaft 13 has universal joints 14 of the construction described in Specification 808,807. Each suspension system comprises a hydraulic displacer unit 24 connected to a similar unit associated with the corresponding front suspension as described in Specification 813,259. The invention is also described as applied to non-driven wheels (Figs. 3 to 5, not shown).
