A rod-like contact for a high-voltage circuitbreaker, for making butt contact with a cooperating collinear rod-like contact, comprises a main rod-like element 2 and a renewable element 1 carrying a contact tip 4, the two elements engaging with one another along mating conical surfaces 5 of such small vertical angle that they are frictionally maintained firmly in engagement with one another. The element 1 may be of aluminium, the element 2 of copper and the tip 4 of a composition of copper and tungsten.
