Abstract
In manufacturing wood boards by pressing a mixture of fine and coarse shavings which are impregnated with a hot-setting adhesive and arranged on a movable bed plate as a lower layer of fine shavings, a middle layer of coarse shavings and an upper layer of fine shavings, the mixture of shavings is sieved by a first and a second distributing device located the second after the <PICT:0856966/IV(a)/1> first one in the moving direction of the bedplate such that each position of the bedplate receives at first fine shavings from the first distributing device, thereafter coarse shavings from both and lastly fine shavings from the second distributing device. Impregnated and dried shavings are delivered through branch pipes 6 to two vibrating tables 2, 3, each actuated by a vibrator 5 and to which are attached teeth 14 of trapezoidal crosssection with increasing distance between the teeth towards their ends. Plates 22, 23 and 24 are provided to obviate disturbing air currents; other inclined plates 25, 26, 27 and 28 attached to the plates 22 guide shavings of different degrees of fineness to different portions of the bedplate and the coarse shavings 18, 19 are spread by transverse rods 29 as shown, or by horizontal plates attached to a rod (Fig. 7 not shown). In a modification, (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown), the surface of the middle (coarse) layer is smoothed by a cylindrical rotary brush before the upper (fine) layer is supplied, and the coarse shavings thereby removed are returned for re-distribution.
