Abstract
856,597. Optical projection apparatus; lantern slides. MADDISON, J. G. Feb. 9, 1959 [Dec. 20, 1958], No. 41195/58. Classes 97(1) and 98(2) A rotatable disc-like container has pocketlike recesses on the flat surfaces of the disc at equal distances from its centre of rotation into and out of which recesses slides or transparencies are freely slidable and is provided with means to facilitate bringing into position for projection or viewing any slide or transparency held in the container which the container is rotated in an optical projector or viewing apparatus. As shown 2 inches x 2 inches transparency slides are located in apertures of this size in a middle disc A and are removably held in position against a front disc B having apertures 1¢ inches x 1¢ inches while a rear disc C locates the upper edges of the transparencies. The disc is pivotally mounted at its centre on a pin N secured by a set screw O in a bushing M on the front plate L of a mounting for the disc, said mounting consisting of a similar rear plate K and a distance piece J. The plates K, L and the distance piece J having registering apertures serving as a projection or viewing gate and the piece J is shaped to allow free rotation of the disc. A ball catch H mounted in the plate K engages in recesses D in the disc B to locate the transparencies in the gate.
