Abstract

856,511. Pneumatic springs. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. Feb. 10, 1958 [Feb. 25, 1957], No. 4238/58. Class 108(3). An air spring connected between a vehicle frame member 10 and a pivoted wheel supporting arm 11 comprises a flexible diaphragm 18 provided with a bead 16 which is re-inforced with two flattened wire rings 22, 33 and is shaped to fit tightly on the upper end of a pedestal member 26. The upper end of the diaphragm has a bead 17 re-inforced by a wire 23 and shaped to seat in a flange 24 in a reservoir 25. The diaphragm is constructed from two plies 19, 20 of rubberized weftless fabric, and a neoprene liner 21.
